DotA 6.72 is going to be the next map of IceFrog's DotA series. In the recent versions, there were many new heroes introduced as well as few items. DotA 6.72 is likely to be another balance patch like DotA 6.71. IceFrog may introduce some items and gameplay changes from community suggestions.

Update #1: 6.72 Feedback by IceFrog (17th Feb 2011):

IceFrog asks for suggestions for upcoming DotA 6.72 in his blog post.

    DotA 6.72 development is going well. I'd like to know what you guys hope to see in it or other upcoming versions. You can share your thoughts by commenting through the blog or sending me an email.


DotA is almost reaching the maximum map size limit of Warcraft 3 Frozen Throne which is 8MB. The last v6.71 was 7.33MB so, it probably means that IceFrog may release couple versions more with new content before DotA 2 goes live.

As the recently released DotA 6.70 brought new heroes and a massive number of changes to main gameplay aspects of DotA. In the near future IceFrog will probably release a balancing patch update in form of DotA 6.71 which will be based on balancing/improving the gameplay. There may be no new stuff in upcoming 6.71.

IceFrog posted an status update of DotA on his blog stating that he has started working on DotA Allstars 6.71. Read his own words below:

    "I am working on 6.71 right now. It is currently a small update consisting mostly of small balance adjustments, minor bug fixes, etc."
